The Foundation has established an annual scientific competition on the subject of Water and Energy, open to all professionals in both fields. The winners of this annual competition are honored by the Ibrahim Abd El Al Award.
This prize has been awarded as follows:

1995: Dr. Tarek Majzoub, “Les Fleuves du Moyen-Orient” L’Harmattan Ed.

1997: A research by the “Centre de l’Eau et de l’Environnement” at Ecole Supéurieure d’Ingénieurs de Beyrouth (Faculty of Engineering at St Joseph University). The subject of this research was the study of the creation of artificial lakes, at heights ranging between 500m and 700m above sea level, for the storage of quantities of water (to be determined by the study) suitable for the irrigation of land lying under 500m above sea level in South Lebanon. It should be noted that this area is poor in water supply.

2004: Another research by the “Centre de l’Eau et de l’Environnement” that aimed at studying possible locations for building artificial reservoirs along the 800m Canal Project for the irrigation of lands in South Lebanon, from the Litani River. This study is to boost the economical benefits of the 800m Canal Project by enabling the storage of surplus water, if any, during the winter season and use it for irrigation during the dry summer season.

In memory of Ibrahim Abd El Al who taught Mathematics in Makassed High School and Hydrology in Ecole Supérieure d’Ingénieurs à Beyrouth (St Joseph University), the Foundation of the Friends of Ibrahim Abd El Al and the Alumni Associations in these two institutions offer a yearly prize for the best students in both subjects.
The Foundation also offers financial assistance for publishing in international publications of research papers carried out by specialists.
It also previously sponsored, twenty students from the American University of Beirut for a three-day conference organized by the American Association of Civil Engineers with the cooperation of the Lebanese Ministry of Environment.
